Shipbuilding steel plates

Steel shipbuilding plates are used in the cabin structures of cruise ships. The thin but wide plates are used for such applications to offer the best processing properties such as flatness and weldability. In contrast, high-strength, thermomechanically rolled shipbuilding plates are used in offshore applications. They are used for platform superstructures or special ships in the oil and gas industry.

Shipbuilding traditionally uses structural steel plates to fabricate ship hulls. Modern steel plates have much higher tensile strengths than their predecessors, making them much better suited to the efficient construction of large container ships. Here are the Advantages of Shipbuilding Plates High corrosion resistant steel plate is a perfect steel type for oil tanks, and when used in shipbuilding, ship weight is less for the same capacity ships, fuel cost and CO2 emission can be reduced.

Grades.

  • A, B, D, E
  • AH 32 TM, A 32 TM, DH 32 TM, D 32 TM, EH 32 TM, E 32 TM
  • AH 36 TM, A 36 TM, DH 36 TM, D 36 TM, EH 36 TM, E 36 TM, FH 36 TM, F 36 TM

As a Shipbuilding steel plate is used in the corrosive sea environment, steel plates with high strength and corrosion resistance are more suitable for building ships. Additionally, welding performance is also a key requirement for shipbuilding steel plates. But how to make a shipbuilding plate with higher strength? Take F series, for example, carbon element is being controlled in the hot rolling process, and TMCP technology is the key for manufacturing high-quality shipbuilding plates.

Dimensions

  • Plate thickness: 5–140 mm max. (dependent on width and steel grade)
  • Plate width: 3,950 mm max. (dependent on thickness and steel grade)
  • Plate length: 18,700 mm max. (dependent on thickness and steel grade)
  • Ordered weight: At least 2 tons per line item
  • Unit weight: 19.5 tons max.

Shipbuilding steel plate refers to hot-rolled steel for the manufacture of ship structures produced in accordance with the requirements of the construction society. Often used as a special steel ordering, scheduling, sales, a ship including ship plates, steel and so on.
